The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe

This would probably labeled child abuse in this day and age, but at the turn of the 20th century it was more like mother's discipline. Some of the Nursery Rhymes of long ago were made to frighten the children into obeying their parents and it worked. The rest of the children in this illustration from 1918 look very contented. I will keep on including a few of the illustrations from my book "Mother Goose of Yesteryear" I hope you enjoy my sample pages. Did your mother read the Nursery Rhymes to you when you were young. That is why I think this book is so important to the mother's of todays children. They need to remember from whence we descended.
